Final Evening of 2007

Posted on 31 December 2007 by Mark

It’s been a wonderful year of blogging and I do wish that 2008 will lead to more stuff to write about, personal or mecha-related.

I can’t say I can look back at 2007 and say I do not have any regrets. There are a lot of things that I wish I could have done better. There are a lot of moments that I wish I did not let pass or take for granted. There are a lot of people I took for granted as well.

2007 was a lot of things for me from hardships and defeats to victories and wonderful memories. I met my wife-to-be in 2006 but 2007 marked the first year of being with her. 2007 had me spending on a lot of things from model kits to an SLR to a couple of PSPs for my brothers. 2007 got me a promotion, a raise, a new project and the chance to travel across Europe for three and a half months. 2007 gave me a lot of trials personally and relationship-wise.  2007 made me question my government even more.

2007 was difficult, that goes without saying. But 2007′s troubles and losses was significantly overshadowed by the blessings that I had received throughout the year. 2007 made me realize that I am loved and cared for by the best. 2007 gave me more than I had expected it to give me.

And now, 2008.

New Year’s resolutions? I feel that even if I make a list, I’m bound to forget or break them. I’d rather keep trying and trying to make myself a better man as the year progresses.

I look forward to 2008. I believe it will be a year of significant life changes for me. It will be another year to a lifetime of being with Chil. I will stumble, fall and fail in numerous ways though the year but I step through 2008′s door knowing that I am loved by people who want nothing but the best for me and being surrounded by them gives me strength.

I know Chil will be holding my hand through it all. I will not let go of hers either.

Last but not the least, I know God’s going to guide me with his hand through this new year.

Cheers to everyone who have been visiting my blog through the year. Thank you so much for reading and I hope I continue to pique your interest!

WHF Pics

Posted on 28 December 2007 by Mark

Doof! So busy with the holidays and office work I rarely get to post on my blog now.

Saw lots of images from various Wonder Festival coverages/blog entries.

There’s one figurine that caught my eye though:

Red Ignis. Mmmmmm~!

Currently enjoying my slim PSP. I know it’s late compared to others who’ve had their PSPs for the longest time. I’m just happy that I finally got one. Quite a neat gadget. There are a good number of games in Nintendo DS Lite that I’d love to play but right now PSP suits most if not all of my portable gaming and multimedia needs. Mine is running on 3.71 M33-4 CFW. Glee~

Before the long Christmas weekend…

Posted on 21 December 2007 by Mark

Apologies to the devoted few who visit my humble blog. I’m been quite busy with work recently (got promoted yay! no…) and I haven’t been able to find time to write a new entry. But there was one fine fellow who kept on wondering when I’ll update my blog and that person always voiced it out: Lazzlo. Thanks!

I’ve gotten quite a barrage of gifts mostly from my fiancee and from my pockets but I’m definitely happy with the purchases. The highlight of it all was the watch that I got from Chil. Thank God, she didn’t pick the PSP over this wonderful looking watch. I’m so happeh!

Now for some Gundam news. Looks like Bandai’s releasing MG Nu Gundam in metallic coat version to match their Sazabi release. I doubt if it’s also going to be glossy like the Sazabi. I’d personally find a glossy finish Nu Gundam ugly.

What’s more interesting though is in the model kit scene for SRW. There will be an Alteisen Riese release at 1/144 scale and the much-awaited non-scale release of the Aussenseiter in horse form to match up with the non-scale Dygenguar.

My fiancee’s currently down and out for the count much thanks to a sudden bout of airborne allergies that we couldn’t pinpoint so she’s on antihistamine treatment for the next week.

I’m just babbling about random stuff now so I’ll end it here for now. More updates come this weekend…hopefully.

Another Coup?!

Posted on 29 November 2007 by Mark

When will people ever learn? EDSA never really worked. It worked to get a corrupt president out of Malacañang but it never fixed our government. Coups never solved anything either. It just messed up businesses, traffic and people’s lives. And the fact that political leaders are leading these coups (yeah, that’s you Trillanes and you too Guingona) doesn’t really paint the picture any better. Instead of legislating and implementing better laws, you fuck up Manila Pen’s business instead. Good job!

Until people decide to really change, to no longer have a price tag on their votes, to pick leaders by merit and not by popularity (good grief, Trillanes ended up in the Senate not by merit either), until everyone decides that the change needs to happen from the grass roots, corruption will always be this gangrenous chunk of fetid flesh sitting right in the middle of our country’s government. And it doesn’t have to be the president who’s fucked up. We have fucked up senators, fucked up congressmen, fucked up policemen, fucked up military people, fucked up government employees and fucked up people who finance these fucked up people in the government. Don’t point fingers. You’re just pointing at the same fucked up people. Just up and leave and spare us the grief, goddamnit.

MG Strike E + IWSP

Posted on 25 November 2007 by Mark

Awesome stuff from Gundam.Info covering the 15th anniversary of Dengeki starting with the MG Strike E + IWSP which is basically a white Strike E with akimbo beam rifles and retaining its akimbo beam handguns. From the picture shown there, it still uses the old MG Strike frame so nothing really new. It’s basically like if you already own the Strike + IWSP and the Strike Noir. Just saves you the trouble of repainting it to those colors.

This is the Gundam Astraea from one of the sidestories of Gundam 00. In Gundam.info’s coverage, there appears to be a 1/100 Astraea on display. More likely, this is a mod of the 1/100 Exia rather than an actual model kit but it should be interesting to see this come out as a model kit. Gundam 00 would probably be the Gundam series with the most prototypes released as model kits. Because another prototype is on display in 1/144 scale:

This is the Gundam Sadalsuud which is basically considered as a prototype of the Dynames and in the field, its main purpose is recon having more lightweight armor.

Last but not the least, and hoping that this actually gets released as a Perfect Grade model kit: a 1/60 Hazel Gundam.

Ever since I laid eyes on the Hazel Gundam, I’ve been craving for a Master Grade of Perfect Grade version of it. It just looks so awesome!

What are your Gundam Christmas wishes this year?

RX-78NT-X Gundam and Gundam Sadalsuud

Posted on 24 November 2007 by Mark

First time I saw this mobile suit is in G Generation Spirits care of a scan featured in Super Robot War Hotnews. It’s obviously a newtype mobile suit but what’s interesting is that it also has the name MRX-003 in its unit code. The MRX unit code is from Murasame Laboratories which made the powerful and gigantic Psyco Gundam which has a mobile fortress transformation feature. With this labelled as MRX-003, this could possibly mean that it’s one of the predecessors of the Psyco Gundam. And yet it also has the Renpou unit code RX (R for Renpou, X for Experiment). Hmm… Anyways, as far as I know, this mobile suit is an exclusive for the game.

Being an NT-use unit, it carries two bits on its shoulders that it uses to remotely attack enemies. The bits remind me of the sword used by the Astray Blue Frame.

Awesome design.

Next up is a mobile suit from Gundam 00P, one of a couple of sidestories that are spawning at the wake of Gundam 00. Here’s the explanation from Gunota Headlines:

GNY-002 Gundam Sadalsuud – Has the image of the tarot card “The Star” (a female goddess taking some water). Scouting & command specialized prototype equipped with sensors all over its entire body. As it is a sensor-using test unit, it has a meager armament and an equal lack of armor. For the time being, it is the prototype of the Dynames.

I’m really liking the designs of the mobile suits for Gundam 00. The only thing I’m not happy about are their feet. I guess my real preference for Gundam feet is the design used on the Strike Gundam featured in Gundam EVOLVE.

Ruka

Posted on 23 November 2007 by Mark

All I know about Ar Tonelico is that it’s a video game made by Banpresto. I’ve never played nor have I seen any of its characters. But this 1/7 scale PVC figurine of Ruka from that game has definitely caught my eye. Danny’s fascination for loli figurines is catching on to me, it seems…if you’d consider this figurine a loli one. Btw, read about this figurine at Marvin’s blog.

What definitely caught my eye was the color combination of the clothing and how cute the face is.

Would you buy one? Personally I’d prefer a castoff-enabled figurine of Aurica or Claire.

OMG, Leah Dizon 1/1 Doll! o_O

Posted on 23 November 2007 by Mark

This is freaky. Folks in Japan who are fans of Leah Dizon and want to do more than just whack their wang while viewing her pics or videos can now buy this 1/1 scale doll of Leah Dizon and do all your pervy desires. Freaky… I know a lot of weird stuff appear in Japan but how come I never saw this one coming? Btw, this doll sells for 470,000 yen.

Christmas Wishlist ver. 1.0

Posted on 22 November 2007 by Mark

Note: This is still subject to change. You can obviously tell that other than the accessories, I’m quite a gadget whore. I’d say MacBook but that’s a bit over the board and would rather buy it some other time. (watches fiancee faint)

160Gb iPod Classic, Devil Red PSP, MG Unicorn Gundam x 2, Canon EOS Image Stabilizer lens, Oakley Juliet Plasma/Emerald Iridium, a nice wallet, Charriol bracelet, a new mobile phone, Nintendo Wii, 16Gb iPod Touch
