Tensou Sentai Goseiger is nearing its end and there is already a lot of discussion regarding the next Super Sentai series which I think is going to be epic simply because it involves practically every single Super Sentai series ever since the franchise’s conception.

But at the same time, I’ve also started doing some backtracking on the Sentai shows that I’ve missed. Prior to regularly following Super Sentai shows, I was more of a Kamen Rider fan. But Samurai Sentai Shinkenger brought back my interest in the Super Sentai series (although Goseiger was a bit of a drag for me, to be quite frank, except for the fact that Moune was quite kawaii).
I watched the Shinkenger vs Go-Onger movie and was interested in the series that came out prior to Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (and the fact that Yumi Sugimoto is gorgeous). So…I’ve started watching Go-Onger while I wait for the entire Goseiger series to be finished and just watch the remaining episodes in one go.
And to be quite honest, I’m finding Go-Onger quite hilarious and even more fun to watch than Goseiger. I catch myself laughing at their antics every so often whereas Goseiger annoyed me more than I actually enjoyed it.
Really. Moune, for me, was its only saving grace.
As for Engine Sentai Go-Onger, my favorite characters are actually Sousuke and Gunpei. When they clash, it just cracks me up.
I am currently in episode 11 of the series and definitely looking forward to when Yumi Sugimoto finally makes her debut in the show.
How about you? What was your all-time favorite Super Sentai show?

The next sentai series that will air in Japan on February 2011 is called Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger. And by the looks of things, since this is an anniversary series (35th Anniversary of the Super Sentai franchise), they’re going to pull off something similar to Decade which makes this even more epic! It is so awesome to see so many Red Senshis in a single poster! Definitely a series to look forward to.
I have to admit that I’ve yet to catch up with Kamen Rider OOO and Goseiger episodes. Hopefully I can do that this weekend. But this one is definitely good news.
Other things to look forward to would be the Core Wars movie featuring Kamen Rider W and Kamen Rider OOO as well as the joint movie featuring Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Tensou Sentai Goseiger.

When I saw the first episode of Goseiger (Epic 1), I was sorely disappointed off the bat. To think that prior to this series, I absolutely enjoyed watching Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and had high hopes for this next series considering how well Shinkenger was played out, casted, and acted. I had also liked the uniform designs which looked like a big nod to the old sentai shows. But from the get-go, it was one disappointing part after another.

Her flying kick. Your balls.
First, Alata (GoseiRed), looked too young and that wisdom he displays at certain moments in the first three episodes sometimes feels unfitting to his character. At the same time, he has these moments when he’s “too positive” that it appears to be more of being naive than being optimistic despite the fact that their tower had been smashed to tiny bits by an oversized red-colored praying mantis kaijuu. Alata also felt awkward. He ran in an awkward way. Even his poses looked awkward. Like he didn’t know how far he should stretch his arm at one pose and the end result looked weird. Epic 1 was also filled with bad acting from Alata which annoyed me thoroughly. Continue Reading
