Posting from my W960

Posted on 01 August 2008 by Mark

This neat! The mobile version of WordPress.com works like a charm and I’m definitely enjoying it. I know that m.wordpress.com was released a couple of moons ago but it’s just now that managed to take it out for a spin. Now I can post any where that I can access the net with my phone with ease. Anyhoo, I better head back to my desk now. I’m done downloading ghost packs for Tekken DR on my PSP. :D

What's in the air these days?

Posted on 26 February 2008 by Mark

What happened to “coming down with <insert your common day ailment here>”?

Lately, whenever I’m sick, it’s out of the blue, for no reason whatsoever. I don’t even feel it coming anymore. It’s like you ride the train and you catch a bug for no reason whatsoever. You walk down the road, next thing you know, you’re coughing like there’s no tomorrow anymore.

One time, I was on my way to work. I was onboard the train. The whole time prior to being on the train, I was absolutely fine. But the moment I stepped off the train, everything started going downhill. My throat was itchy, I had a feverish feeling on my skin, my eyes had a slight burning sensation. By the time I got to work, I was already considering calling in sick… Never saw it coming.

Another instance was with Chil. She was eating something completely normal. Nothing out of the blue. All of a sudden, she started getting a really bad case of rashing all over her body. She was feverish. She didn’t anything out of the ordinary. I figured it was airborne. It definitely kept her in bed for an entire weekend.

Latest instance was over the weekend. I was completely fine during the entire weekend. I didn’t do anything out of my normal daily routine. But when I woke up Monday morning, my throat was swollen, my body ached and I had a slight fever. Crap!

Our environment must be really fscked up by now for us to be getting sick like this. And our regular medicine just isn’t cutting it anymore. I’ve taken a barrage of vitamin C and paracetamol already and my throat still feels rough. They always tell me it’s because I stay up late. Excuse me but last time I checked, my regular day starts at 10pm and ends at around 1am the following day because of my shift. Nothing out of the ordinary so if I slept at around 2am, that’s not late. That’s 9pm in my world.

I want to blame someone for fscking up the air. Point and I’ll shoot.

Ambassador Fscking Appliances

Posted on 22 February 2008 by Mark

I am not buying from that store ever.

I’ve bought several items from Ambassador Appliances in Shangri-La Mall and none of them were perfect. I always had to go back and have something changed.

First item I bought from Ambassador Appliances was my Canon EOS 400D. I had to go back and have the CF card replaced because the very evening that I started using my camera, the CF card froze on me and I could no longer access it much less reformat it. Next was a pair of Nokia 6300′s for Chil and I. The navigational button on one of the phones was so fucked up you could even properly press down on it. Had to go back to that damned store and have it replaced. Last was a couple of PSPs for my brothers. One was white and the other was a piano black PSP Slim. I knew I should have been suspicious when they said that the white PSP was the last unit they had in their inventory. But I bought it anyways. Now, that white PSP was a botched up motherboard. To think that between my two brothers, the younger one who owned the white PSP hardly used it, took very good care of it and never dropped it. Oh, and one of the memory sticks was fucked up too.

So no, I’m not buying from Ambassador-fscking-Appliances anymore. It appears that when someone returns a faulty product, they just keep it in their inventory and sells it again to the next buyer. And I had the worst luck of ending up with the returns every time I bought something from their store. Now I’m not sure if they do the same thing in their Greenhills branch but they definitely ass-raped my pockets in Shangri-La Mall.

Another Coup?!

Posted on 29 November 2007 by Mark

When will people ever learn? EDSA never really worked. It worked to get a corrupt president out of Malacañang but it never fixed our government. Coups never solved anything either. It just messed up businesses, traffic and people’s lives. And the fact that political leaders are leading these coups (yeah, that’s you Trillanes and you too Guingona) doesn’t really paint the picture any better. Instead of legislating and implementing better laws, you fuck up Manila Pen’s business instead. Good job!

Until people decide to really change, to no longer have a price tag on their votes, to pick leaders by merit and not by popularity (good grief, Trillanes ended up in the Senate not by merit either), until everyone decides that the change needs to happen from the grass roots, corruption will always be this gangrenous chunk of fetid flesh sitting right in the middle of our country’s government. And it doesn’t have to be the president who’s fucked up. We have fucked up senators, fucked up congressmen, fucked up policemen, fucked up military people, fucked up government employees and fucked up people who finance these fucked up people in the government. Don’t point fingers. You’re just pointing at the same fucked up people. Just up and leave and spare us the grief, goddamnit.

The Good Husband

Posted on 25 October 2007 by Mark

I got this from an email sent to me by an officemate of mine. It’s a nice short read.

The Good Husband

Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company’s
Christmas Party. Jack is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn’t
taste like alcohol at all. He didn’t even remember how he got home from the party.

As bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did something wrong.

Jack had to force himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees
is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And,

next to them, a single red rose! Jack sits up and sees his clothing in front
of  him, all clean and pressed. He looks around the room and sees that
it is in  perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house. He

takes the  aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back
at him in the bathroom mirror. Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the
mirror  written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in

lipstick:

‘Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to get groceries to make
you your favorite dinner tonight. I love you, darling! Love, Jillian’

He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast,

steaming hot coffee and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the
table, eating.

Jack asks, ‘Son… What happened last night?’ ‘Well, you came home after
3  A.M., drunk and out of your mind. You fell over the coffee table and

broke it, and then you puked in the hallway, and got that black eye when you
ran  into the door.

Confused, he asked his son, ‘So, why is everything in such perfect order
and so clean? I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting for

me??’

His son replies, ‘Oh THAT!… Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when
she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, ‘Leave me alone, I’m
married!!’

Broken Coffee Table $239.99

Hot Breakfast $4.20
Two Aspirins $.38
Saying the right thing, at the right time … ‘Priceless!’

Jim Lee's Superman and Batman

Posted on 14 September 2007 by Mark

I saw these two images as posters in a local comic book store in the Philippines. I’ve always been a fan of Jim Lee’s art. But now, seeing them side by side and remembering the series where Superman and Batman were working together, I can’t help but wonder if these two images were part of a spread or if Jim Lee drew these to look similar on purpose. I don’t really follow DC comics closely so I may just be pointing at the obvious.

I laugh at the face of failure

Posted on 06 August 2007 by Mark

Haven’t been able to update my blog recently with anything related to Gundams or my business trip (well, at least the R&R part of the business trip. A big part of me is still quite homesick and I don’t think this will be changing for the better any time soon. That smile on that pic was forced. Kidding aside, it’s really hard to be away from home for so long. I mean, the trip’s really nice. I get to see so many new things and meet a lot of people from different cultures. But I guess I’ve just never been the travelling type. I would enjoy travelling if I was with my loved ones but I will always look back towards the home I’ve always been used to even if others may say that there’s a better life out there. There’s more to life than financial gain, from my perspective. But I don’t mean that by just stagnating in the Philippines. Of course not! Life is hard in the Philippines just as life is hard anywhere else. It’s just that the opportunities granted to you in the Philippines aren’t as abundant as in other developed countries. But that doesn’t mean I’ll be hating living there. Some people have to understand that if you’ve been raised as a Filipino and have lived most of your life as a Filipino, you will always ALWAYS be a Filipino in a lot of aspects of your life even if you’ve lived away from home for so long already and that’s just something I will not easily let go. Not because I can’t but simply because I don’t want to. I love the Philippines with all its glory and endless failures. At least they don’t go about saying they’re better than everyone else.

I’m talking from experience here because I’ve have several people tell me life’s better than living in a shithole like the Philippines. All I’ll say is at least I don’t break down when I don’t have insurance, or don’t have cash in my bank account, or need anti-depressants when all things don’t go according to plan. I’m a Filipino. I laugh at the face of failure. Then I bounce back.

I miss you, bee. I easily bounce back because I have you pulling me just as you have me pulling you up. Can’t wait to see you. I’ll be home soon.

And if you want a dash of sunshine, watch this video. LOL! Danny Choo should seriously do a Trooper Dance Video with this song!!
