BRS Nendoroid Updates via Mikatan

Posted on 23 March 2010 by Mark

Definitely one of the most anticipated Nendoroid releases of this year, photos of the upcoming Nendoroid Black Rock Shooter show up in Mikatan’s blog. These appear to be what it would look like in production although the actual box for the Nendoroid has yet to be shown.

Nevertheless, we have oodles of pictures to view from Mikatan’s blog including what appears to be some interesting additional items that would make this Nendoroid even more worthwhile to collect. It also makes me think that the box that Nendoroid will be packaged in will be bigger than usual.

Nendoroid Black Rock Shooter

This is what she’s supposed to look like in production. What’s interesting to note is that the base is the black and white tile base that has been signature to the BRS franchise. Another interesting thing is that the stand for this Nendoroid looks like the stands you would commonly see in figmas. Continue Reading

Nendoroid Ciel Phantomhive Master Mold?

Posted on 18 March 2010 by Mark

Nendoroid Ciel Phantomhive

Could this be a production version of Ciel Phantomhive from Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji)? Here we see Sebastian Michaelis, the demon butler, with a serving cloth and a tea set. So it would appear that Ciel comes with additional parts for Sebastian! I would definitely want to get this.

This and the other photos in this post were from Mikatan’s post about some minor event where some GSC merchandise were out on display. There also appeared to be production versions of the female EVA pilots as well as these two:

Metal Hero Nostalgia + Daily Toy Finds, March 9

Posted on 09 March 2010 by Mark

Space Sherrif Gavan

Saw a toy online today that made me feel nostalgic about the shows that I used to enjoy back when I was a kid. It’s a Metal Hero action figure by Action Works. This Metal Hero is the first of a trilogy of Space Sheriff shows. His name is Space Sheriff Gavan. Continue Reading

Some SIC Updates

Posted on 08 March 2010 by Mark

I just had to share this because seeing these scans made me look forward to my preordered SICs even more. Saw this bit of news from Ngeekhiong today. It’s about some of the upcoming SIC releases in the coming months.

First up is a scan from a magazine regarding the upcoming SIC Dark Kabuto/Gatack release.

Nendoroids This Year

Posted on 11 February 2010 by Mark

Ok, I have a long list of items that have already been preordered and it’s just a matter of time before they arrive. But thanks to WonFes this month, there’s a whole bunch of them waiting to be planned out for ordering again. My poor wallet. T_T

But before I go through this year’s upcoming Nendoroids that I’m considering getting, here’s a quick run through of what’s supposed to be coming in:

For pick-up:

  • Nendoroid Vocaloid Puchi Set 01
  • Nendoroid Mio Akiyama
  • Nendoroid Yui Hirasawa
  • Nendoroid Canaan

Still to come:

  • Nendoroid Alphaard
  • Nendoroid Ein
  • Nendoroid Ritsu Tainaka
  • Nendoroid Tsumugi Kotobuki
  • Nendoroid Megurine Luka
  • Nendoroid Sanae Kochiya
  • Nendoroid Sakuya Isayoi
  • Bakemonogatari Puchi Nendoroid Set 01
  • Nendoroid Konata Shimbun ver.
  • Nendoroid Kagami Shimbun ver.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s get started with the upcoming Nendoroids that I’ve got my sights on. Do note that there are a lot of other Nendoroids that were showcased in the recently-concluded WonFes event. I’m just showcasing the ones that I definitely want to get.

Nendoroid Black Rock Shooter

Starting off with Nendoroid Black Rock Shooter. This was an obvious one. Ever since BRS shot up in popularity, Nendoroid collectors and enthusiasts have been hinting at a BRS Nendoroid and now that a master has been released for display at WonFes, the speculation is that this, its figma version and the TV version of the figurine will be released along with the launch of the series. The Mk. IV Arrives

Posted on 20 October 2009 by Mark

Thought the recent Nikon release was awesome? Looks like Canon doesn’t want Nikon taking away the spotlight from them. Canon’s EOS 7D was already making waves especially after seeing a short film shot entirely using the Canon EOS 7D. And now, they’re releasing this new powerhouse. Think the 1D’s out of the game? Check out this new iteration that Canon plans on releasing soon (they say it’s tomorrow).

In a nutshell, it’s got a 16.1 MP CMOS, twin Digic 4 processors, 45 AF points (can’t have enough of them I guess) and wireless connectivity for file transfer.

Hit up the link for more info in Engadget.

Google wave: What I Think Of It

Posted on 12 October 2009 by Mark

I’ll put a different spin to writing about Google wave. It’s a bit painful to read. Apparently one of the things that don’t properly work with the current build is copy and past from a wave onto another screen in the same browser. :P Along with not being able to delete waves and no Ctrl + Z. Go figure. But here’s what I think about Google wave if you can be bothered to squint at it.

OMFG News: GFFMC Gundam Unicorn sighted in Tamashii Nation 2009 Autumn

Posted on 02 October 2009 by Mark

When before we only had some  scans from Mr. BlurryScanner, now we have shots of the actual merchandise spotted at Tamashii Nation 2009.

Gundam Unicorn Normal Mode

Gundam Unicorn Destroy Mode

These display items look absolutely gorgeous and it’s spurring me to finish my two Master Grade Gundam Unicorns soon. One thing’s for sure, though. When this baby hits the shelves, I’ll be one of the first people to grab one for myself. It’s going to burn a painful hole in my pocket but it will definitely be worth it. I mean, just look at the detail! I do have a feeling that posability will be almost as limited or even worse than the Psycho Gundam Mk. I but who cares, right?!

There may be some crazy people who would buy two just to have both forms on display on their desk. I would if I had the cash. But right now, one is enough.

Don’t know about release dates yet but this definitely falls in my watch so I’ll keep you guys who are interested in this posted. ^_^

Lumix LX3 Firmware Update 2.0

Posted on 28 September 2009 by Mark

Lumix LX3

For LX3 users out there, good news! Panasonic has released a new update for your Lumix LX3′s firmware. Here’s the changelog from the site itself:

  1. Improved auto white balance performance.
  2. Auto Focus speed-up.
  3. Recording function with an aspect ratio of 1:1 has been added.
  4. A white balance (WB) bracket function has been added.
  5. [HIGH DYNAMIC] has been added to scene mode.
  6. [LENS RESUME] has been added to the [SETUP] menu.
  7. [MENU RESUME] has been added to the [SETUP] menu.
  8. The exposure compensation and the auto bracket compensation can now be set up to ±3EV.
  9. Position of the guide line can now be set.
  10. It is now possible to display the highlights in playback mode.
  11. It is now possible to record the user’s name in the picture.
  12. Digital red-eye removal has been modified.
  13. Items saved in the custom set have changed.

So hit up the link to Panasonic’s firmware page and download your firmware upgrade. What I liked about this upgrade is the improved white balance performance and AF speed-up. The WB bracketing is also an awesome added feature. The Lens Resume and Menu Resume are more of conveniences and nice-to-haves but I’m glad they’re also in the upgrade.

Took the camera with the new firmware out for a spin and shot some cards I printed out.

Cards

No editing was done on this image except for the watermark. The camera was set to Auto White Balance. Focusing was speedy and this is awesome when you want to take a lot of macro shots with the LX3 or if you’re taking group pictures. One of the complaints I got before when I was shooting group pictures was the focus time took too long so usually I would start AF and do the countdown when I’ve done the half-press.

So far, so good. I’m liking the new changes and the fact that I can now store my name in the EXIF data through the camera itself.

How about you? Did you upgrade already? Share your thoughts.

Flooded Saturday

Posted on 26 September 2009 by Mark

Flood

So it’s been raining non-stop since last night and this is the scene I woke up to this morning. My house is officially landlocked. My parents tried leaving the house to head off to some engagement but the moment the reached the exit of our subdivision, it was already too deep. They tried the other exit which was on higher ground but it was still flooded down that way. So they had no choice but to head back.

You might think it’s not so bad since the floodwater’s barely touching our gate. Our house is actually elevated by two feet above street level so this is knee-deep flood already. I have not seen floodwater get this deep in our streets since my years in elementary school. So I’m amazed to wake up to this scenario.

Flood

Normally, when our streets get flooded, the road is still visible under the water. This time, it’s deep enough to completely eliminate the road. Even that entire blind corner has been swallowed up by the water. A rare site in our subdivision. A very rare one.

Flood

Some bloke wading through the water. In some areas, it was worse because the water’s flowing or rushing even in some areas. At least the floodwater here is still.

Unless this rain stops though, I’m sure more areas that are easily flooded would be in worse conditions than what I am experiencing here right now. So for their sakes, I hope the rain stops soon.

Well if I had a Gundam, I’d be on rescue patrol right now. Unless it’s a Noah’s Ark kind of flood, I’d be able to wade through ANYTHING. But of course, that’s me doing wishful thinking again. :P
